Contacts are people associated with a particular account file. All contacts within InsideSales.com will be linked to its related account.

You’ll recall that contacts are records of personal information that are split from leads when converted. One reason this split occurs is that after converting a qualified lead, many users like being able to see multiple people (contacts) within a single organization (account). For example, during a sales cycle a rep might work with the sales manager, CEO, Director of IT, and accounting department. With the Contacts tab you can track personal information for each of these people individually.

However, a common question among new users is, “Why do I even need a contacts tab? Aren’t all of my contacts shown on the account screen?” The answer is technically, no, you don’t need a contacts tab. However, the Contacts tab provides a quick reference point to find people related to your accounts, as well as providing the vehicle for sending mass emails and mass faxes to Contact Groups.

The basic navigation and search options are nearly identical for the Contacts tab as the other main record tabs.
