CSV Account Update

This is a very useful tool for companies who frequently update existing accounts with new information. For example, if every month managers wanted to update a field in each of their account records that shows a purchase amount spent last month, or new notes from other transactions. This can be done quickly by using a CSV spreadsheet file that contains the new information that needs to updated on the existing accounts.

The first step is similar to uploading a new batch data, as we must first provide a CSV file with the account data to update.

To make this process work correctly, we need to have a common field entry in the spreadsheet that will match an existing field in the InsideSales database. This could be as simple as the name of the company, or it could be an account number, or some other reference number that links the spreadsheet data to the existing account. The only limitation is that it must be an exact match; if it is not, then the account update will not run correctly. After uploading the sheet, use the Account Field / Your Field dropdowns to make the link.

Next, match the remaining fields that you want to be updated in the section below. When finished matching fields, click the Run Update button. The system will next show a short dialogue as the update runs. When the update finishes, it will not change screens, but will show the final status of the update, at which point you can navigate back to the main Administrative tab, or another system area.
